In our original clock, the minute hand is the clear plastic cylinder on top of the incline. As the cylinder rolls down the incline it passes the numbers on the view ports to indicate the time. It takes 30 minutes reach the other end, where it hits the exposed triggers which flips the slope and continues the motion of the minute hand. The hour is read on the saw tooth gear behind the brass cover.
